Junior Financial Analyst

Junior Financial Analyst required for a medium sized niche business in Rochester.  Reporting to the Finance Director, the Junior Financial Analyst will have a dual role. The largest percentage of the work will be helping managers better understand pricing, margin, cost and profitability analysis to aid financial decisions, as well as monthly reporting.  Working with large data sets, the role will extract, manipulate data ready for presentation to the leadership team of this fast-paced business.

Detailed duties of the Junior Financial Analyst include;

  • Assist with cost centre analysis and variance analysis, highlighting risk/opportunity/new ideas to key stakeholders
  • Assist with KPI reporting ready for monthly presentation
  • Interpreting and presenting financial information to non-finance staff, providing a clear picture of the companies financial health
  • Extract, manipulate and drill down into data to analyse budgets vs spent, costs and profitability
  • Margin analysis, looking to maximise opportunity and ensuring expected level of profitability are achieved
  • Adhoc analysis and costing of new business opportunities, maximising existing
  • Assist with accounting activities including reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, spotting and analysing anomalies, making recommendations
  • Assisting with Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cashflow reporting
  • Assistance with VAT, statutory reporting

The successful Junior Financial Analyst;

  • Graduate in Accounting & Finance with a desire to start CIMA/ACCA (full study support offered)
  • Some experience of basic financial control who has encompassed analytical elements or undertaken financial projects
  • Exceptional analysis experience, able to dive into the detail of large data sets from different sources, spot emerging trends of risk or opportunity
  • Advanced Excel – as a minimum pivot tables, lookups, indexmatch, graphs and ideally PowerBI
  • Bright, willing to learn
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment in rapidly expanding business.  Able to juggle multiple, competing priorities
